Raspberry Leaf — A Traditional Woman’s Herb

Behind the familiar raspberry fruit grows another botanical treasure: the leaf. Long cherished in traditional herbal practice, raspberry leaf has a special place in women’s herbal care, from menstrual comfort to the quiet rituals of preparing for birth.

Our dried raspberry leaves brew into a naturally caffeine-free, amber-coloured infusion with a mild, earthy flavour and a gently astringent finish. This is a leafy herbal tea, rather than a sweet, berry-flavoured drink.

Traditionally Treasured For

Menstrual comfort
Raspberry leaf has traditionally been used to ease minor cramps associated with menstrual periods—a use recognised in European herbal monographs.

A late-pregnancy ritual
Often called a “womb herb” in traditional herbalism, raspberry leaf has a long association with preparation for childbirth. Some women choose it as part of their late-pregnancy routine under the guidance of their midwife or maternity practitioner. Its traditional reputation does not guarantee an easier or shorter labour.

Astringent herbal care
The leaves contain tannins, which give the infusion its slightly drying character. This helps explain traditional uses for mild diarrhoea and, as a cooled mouth rinse or gargle, minor mouth and throat irritation.

Important Pregnancy Guidance

Do not use during the first or second trimester of pregnancy.

During the third trimester, use only with the approval of your midwife or maternity practitioner, who should advise whether it is suitable for your pregnancy and when to begin. Reaching the third trimester does not automatically make it appropriate.

Raspberry leaf tea is not intended to induce labour.

Why We Love This Tea

We love raspberry leaf for her quiet character and her rich place in women’s herbal traditions. A warm cup, a comfortable chair and a moment to pause—a simple ritual with a story passed between generations.

Consult your healthcare professional before use if breastfeeding, taking medication or managing a medical condition.

Ingredients

100% dried raspberry leaves (Rubus idaeus). Why We Choose Loose-Leaf We like our herbal teas simple: beautiful botanicals, hot water and a little time to brew. Tea bags add extra materials and processing costs. Some also contain plastics—in the mesh or the material used to seal them—which can release tiny plastic particles during brewing. Choosing loose herbs lets us skip the bag and keep the focus on what you’re buying: the herbs themselves. And while loose-leaf might sound like a bit of a hassle, a lovely teapot with a built-in sieve or a reusable stainless-steel infuser makes it a breeze. Simply scoop, steep, strain and enjoy. You can choose your own strength, admire the flowers and leaves, and enjoy fewer single-use bits to throw away. A little less packaging. A little more ritual. A beautiful cup of nature. Consult your healthcare professional before use if breastfeeding, taking medication or managing a medical condition.
